Taming the Tyrant:  Personal Healing, Public Accountability, and the Integration of the Immature Masculine
-- a Men Alive retreat for personal growth, supportive fellowship, and community healing --
February 2 - 4, 2018
Bishop Booth Conference Center at Rock Point, Burlington, VT

As recent news of widespread workplace harassment and intimate abuse suggests, many men have learned to fear and compete with each other, to numb our feelings of empathy and compassion, and to rely primarily on women as sources of comfort and support--and as objects of exploitation and violence.  In the company of supportive and nurturing men, we break free of disabling isolation, shame, and oppressive dependence; reclaim our feelings; and discover the positive power of manhood.  For 30 years, Men Alive has organized safe and confidential weekend retreats for men to express themselves as individuals, connect with other men for companionship and emotional support, and build a community of shared leadership.  Sharing leadership creates opportunities for connection and service, practice with respectfully setting and responding to personal boundaries, and becoming both more playful and more responsible adults.

The next Men Alive retreat will take place from Friday, February 2, 7pm to Sunday, February 4, 2pm, 2018, at the Bishop Booth Conference Center at Rock Point, in Burlington's New North End.  We will agree on group norms for safety and confidentiality; celebrate and bond through ritual and meals; share our stories, laughter and tears in small groups; dance, make music, and write poetry together; and connect non-verbally through drumming and in nature.  The weekend is drug and alcohol free, and all activities are optional.  Please plan to pay between $120 and $160, according to your means; however, no person will be turned away for lack of funds.
-- All masculine-identified persons are welcome. --

Please register by Friday, January 26, 2018, with Philip Pezeshki at ppezeshki1@gmail.com.
