Goats Want Xmas Trees: Repurpose Yours?

Past event
Jan 6, 2018, 10 AM to 2 PM

With Christmas behind us, are you looking for a recyclable way to dispose of your browning holiday tree?

Consider coming by the Pine Island Community Farm, located in Colchester, to drop off your tree for the resident goats to munch on all winter long. This is a family-friendly event where you and your kids can meet the goats and grab some hot chocolate and cookies. Before bringing your tree, please ensure that it is completely free of all decorations including tinsel.

Our official drop-off day is next Saturday, January 6th from 10am-2pm. The farm is located at 1029 Pine Island Road (off Malletts Bay Avenue) in Colchester. This year we will be asking for optional $5 donations to help support the farm.

It is so cool to watch the dozens and dozens of goats attack and strip the trees -- it's like seeing elementary students tucking into M&Ms or mac and cheese, or like ravenous adults grabbing handfuls of nachos or spoonfuls of of foie gras or slices of German chocolate cake .... You get the idea!
