Please consider attending a White Ally Toolkit workshop hosted by Showing Up for Racial Justice – Burlington and co-sponsored by the UVM Department of Social Work and the Peace and Justice Center on Saturday, January 13 from 9:30am-1:30pm at UVM (Waterman Building, Memorial Lounge).
The White Ally Toolkit workshop with Dr. David Campt is specifically designed to provide a practical framework of empathetic listening for addressing racism within white communities.
There is a sliding scale ($10-$60) for registration, based on need and ability. If you are able, we recommend a minimum price of $30. Go this this link to purchase: https://surj-btvwhiteallytoolkit.brownpapertickets.com.
Additionally, if you mark yourself as "Going" on the Facebook event page (https://www.facebook.com/events/570820136591276/), you will get regular updates from Dr. Campt. We will also post any updates to that page (particularly if there are any weather issues the day of the workshop).
I recommend watching this short video of 3 folks from a recent training in Seattle reflecting on their experience, if you are curious to know more about the training: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMYCktPq0Qk&feature=youtu.be. Additionally, you can read more about Dr. Campt and his philosophy/approach at https://www.whiteallytoolkit.com.
Please don't hesitate to reach out with questions.
