Join Mayor Miro Weinberger, members of city council, and the winning flag design artists as the City officially raises the new City Flag in a flag raising ceremony. The ceremony will take place at 4 p.m. in front of City Hall during First Night.

The flag represents the sky, looking back to our rich history and ahead to the unknown future with perpetual hope; the snow-covered mountains, an indelible backdrop to our city; the Green Mountain State, Burlington’s commitment to the environment and to education; the breakwater, which protects Burlington’s spectacular waterfront, and Lake Champlain, which sustains and enriches our community and lives.

The flag was designed by Owen and Lucas Marchessault, 7th graders, and adopted November 28, 2017.
