Special Services at First Universalist Parish

Past event
Dec 24, 2017, 9:30 to 10:30 AM

Celebrate the wonder of the season with the music of violins, harp, piano, trumpet and joyful song at two special services at First Universalist Parish in Chester’s historic Stone Village. You are invited to attend a morning service on December 24 at 9:30 a.m., and a vespers service on December 31 at 4 p.m.

Rev. Kevin Carson will lead the December 24 intergenerational service with a sermon, “Let Us Remember the Shepherds.” Music Director Julane Deener will lead trumpet soloist Scott Wunderle and the choir in Handel’s Contate Deo. Erik Johansson will sing a shepherd’s song, accompanying himself on the harp.

For the December 31 vespers service Deener will lead an interfaith choral group from surrounding communities in songs of hope and peace. Poetry and hymns will alternate with readings.

Valerie Linck will be the pianist for both services. A social gathering for refreshments and conversation in the social hall will follow each service.

Members of the First Unitarian Parish hope all will enjoy these hours of hope, celebration and light. The church is at 211 North Street (Vermont Route 103).
