Saturation of color, energy in art, flexibility: pastel artists revel in these qualities. Oil pastel artists use a variety of papers and boards to achieve unique paintings. Some artists create textured surfaces using acrylic media, then work over them using oil pastel, inspiring the question “How did you do that?”

In this class, you will learn how to create unique looks using oil pastels. Most of the time will be spent creating art—from imagination/memory and from your own favorite photos (please bring). Oil pastels are preferred, but some techniques can be used with dry pastel as well.

Carol will give a brief talk about oil pastels, she will demonstrate methods and will provide one-on-one attention in this special workshop. Please bring your own oil pastels and/or chalk pastels and paper or pastel boards. Some materials provided.
