Solaris Vocal Ensemble Holiday Concerts

Past event
Dec 16, 2017, 7:30 to 9 PM

Hi neighbors! My choir, Solaris Vocal Ensemble, a Burlington-based chamber choir led by Dr. Dawn Willis, will present three holiday concerts in the area entitled Holiday Lights, with guest artists the Green Taylor String Quartet. It's going to be fabulous! Here are the deets:

On Friday, December 15, 7:30pm, we perform in Waterbury at the White Meeting House (Congregational Church.). Saturday evening, December 16, 7:30pm, the concert takes place at our home base - College Street Congregational Church, with the Madrigal Singers from Champlain Valley Union High School in Hinesburg joining in for part of the concert. The Congregational Church of South Hero is the third concert venue on Sunday, December 17 for a 3:00pm matinee performance.

Solaris’s seasonal program includes Francesco Durante’s Magnificat for soloists, chorus, strings, and organ; as well as two rarely-heard works by Viennese composer Richard Stoehr, a celebrated composer at Saint Michael’s College from 1941-1950. Leonard Bernstein’s Gloria Tibi for women’s voices with tenor soloist, and Eric Whitacre’s Lux Arumque round out the program, as well as an exclusive premiere of a new composition of Emily Dickinson’s poem It Sifts from Leaden Sieves by Solaris tenor David J. Tetrault. In acknowledgement of Solaris's Fifth Anniversary Season, we'll also perform several works from Solaris’ first holiday concert, Carol from an Irish Cabin by Dale Wood and Northern Lights by Oja Gjeilo.

Detailed information is available at www.SolarisEnsemble.org; tickets may be purchased through the website, at www.Flynntix.org, or at the door; $20 adults, $15 seniors/students. Group rates for 10 or more are also available!
