A Pop-up Swing Session at the Maple Corner Community Center, this Saturday, Dec 2nd, 7-8pm!

My very talented niece is visiting from London where she runs regular dance events teaching all kinds of Swing Dance. We thought it would be fun to get the community together for an hour of dance with Gaia this Saturday night, just for some fun! See below for more info about her talents and life's work.

Gaia has been dancing Lindy Hop, Charleston, Swing, Blues and Balboa for more than 20 years and has had the privilege of teaching Swing Dancing in many cities around the world including Rome, U.K. and Dubai. "I started teaching in Portland Oregon in 1999 doing Lindy Hop, Charleston and Blues. My main focus is working on the fundamental language of the dance, how to listen and interpret the music and the historical elements of dance vernacular.”

This Pop-up Session is perfect for those who want to learn the basic steps and moves of Swing Dancing. Gaia will be teaching some tips and tricks to make your floor craft go smooth on the social dance floor. We will cover some wicked spins, some conceptual elements of basic East Coast 6 count Swing Dancing and work on tightening up those moves. You will leave with an arsenal of cool twists and turns and feeling more confident in your technique and physical language of this fantastic vintage style dance!
