UPDATE: December 4th - 6:00-8:30pm at 12-22 North Street, Burlington (The "VT Green Building").
Join with members of the Dawnland Decolonization Solidarity Group and Burlington Permaculture for an evening of conversation exploring the intersections of colonialism, permaculture and decolonization centered on Indigenous Agriculture of Vermont, its history and ongoing revitalization. Abenaki community activists involved in the decolonization of the Vermont Abenaki experience will share their thoughts and experiences on the state of Abenaki food sovereignty and its future, as well as how the settler community can be enlisted as allies in Indigenous struggles toward seed and land sovereignty. This workshop is intended for permaculture designers, teachers, activists , cultural creators, land tenders, and gardeners, though all are welcome! We hope this workshop will help bring about a deeper awareness about decolonization , how to engage with it, and the importance of doing so in our work and all aspects of our lives. A listing of ongoing Indigenous agricultural programs and initiatives will be made available.
Vegetarian Soup and bread will be served at 6:00 pm
$10 Suggested donation, proceeds to benefit Abenaki solidarity efforts.
