The use of Coroner’s Inquests began in Quebec with the British conquest and continued up to the present. These documents often include much more than a simple cause of death and can provide genealogical clues unavailable anywhere else. In this talk Denyse Beaugrand-Champagne will discuss the introduction and development of these records over the past 250 years, the information one may find in them and how to locate them - both online and in repositories. Denyse is Reference Archivist at the Montreal Branch of the Bibliotheque et Archives Nationales du Quebec (BanQ) and is the genealogical consultant for the Quebec version of the “Who Do You Think You Are” television program. Classes at the Vermont Genealogy Library are $10.00 and run from 10:30 to noon. We are open for research Tuesdays 3 to 9:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 to 4.The library is located on Hegeman Ave, Fort Ethan Allen, Colchester.
