The Vermont Choral Union, directed by Jeff Rehbach since 2011, is pleased to present its annual holiday concert program on December 2 and 3, 2017. Founded in 1967, The Vermont Choral Union draws inspiration from more than 10 centuries of classical a cappella music. Sharing a passion for artistic achievement, our singers explore timeless works of the past, along with today's newest compositions. Through a diverse and varied concert program, the singers strive to delight audiences with programs that portray the rich history of this genre of choral music.

The ensemble of community-based singers will perform a program of inspirational classical holiday pieces spanning the centuries. From the medieval, enigmatic chants of Hildegard von Bingen, to the intricate, contrapuntal polyphony of Dufay and Tallis, to poetic interpretations of Brahms, the group seeks new interpretations of timeless works, while exploring spirited settings of traditional carols and texts arranged by contemporary composers, including O Magnum Mysterium by Morten Lauridsen, Ave Maris Stella by Trond Kverno, and Ave Generosa by Ola Gjeilo. The Choral Union will also present the Vermont premiere of Welcome, All Wonders by the late Stephen Paulus. Joining the Choral Union will be Vermont harpist and long-time friend of the Choral Union, Heidi Soons, as well as members of the Champlain Consort.

The Vermont Choral Union invites you to their two holiday concerts on Saturday, December 2nd at 7:30 pm at the Bliss Room of the St. Albans Museum in St. Albans, Vermont and Sunday, December 3rd at 3:00 pm at St. Paul’s Cathedral in downtown Burlington, Vermont. This concert is made possible by a grant from the Vermont Community Foundation. Generous media sponsorship for this program has been provided by Vermont Public Radio.

Purchase tickets in advance at www.VTChoralUnion.org; additionally, a limited number of tickets will be for sale at the door prior to each concert.
