Dear Neighbors,

This coming Monday, the City Council will convene its second of two meetings for the month of November.

We will begin our evening at 5:30pm with a work session to answer Councilors’ questions on the Burlington Telecom bidders. Our Council meeting will begin immediately after this work session. Our Council agenda calls for the public forum to begin at 7:30pm.

We have ten items on our deliberative agenda. Our first item is a public hearing on proposed amendments to several ordinances on green roof lot coverage, emergency shelters, preschool technical amendments, development bonuses and replacement mobile homes. After this hearing, the Council will vote on each of these proposed amendments. We will then hold another public hearing regarding roadway acceptance conveyance for Staniford Farms Road and then vote on this conveyance of this road to the City of Burlington.

Our last two items on our Monday evening agenda relate to the sale of Burlington Telecom. The first is a resolution regarding the method of voting the Council will use for the sale. The resolution sets out the process: each Councilor will have two votes in the first round of voting. We will each vote for two of the three offers. The two highest vote-getters will advance. If there is a tie for second place, each Councilor will vote once. If there is a tie, the Council will recess and resume voting and continue this process until a second bidder is selected. In the second round of voting, each Councilor will vote for one of the two remaining bids. If there is a tie, the same process will be followed (a vote, a brief recess, another vote) until one of the bidders receives the majority of votes cast. For information on the bids, please go to the BT website at: https://www.burlingtontelecom.com/settlement/

As with all Council meetings, please keep in mind that you are always welcome to come and speak to the Council on any subject you wish during our public forum which begins at 7:30pm.

You may access the Council agenda at http://www.boarddocs.com/vt/burlingtonvt/Board.nsf/Public Please note that all Council meetings are televised live on BT Channel 317 and streamed live to your computer or phone.

As always, I welcome your questions and concerns. Please be in touch over the weekend and on Monday.

I wish you all a happy and healthy Thanksgiving.

My best,
Karen
