Citizens' Forum of Vermont is hosting a Legislative Preview on December 3rd.
Location: Thatcher Brook Primary School, 47 Stowe Street in Waterbury
In the upcoming 2018 session, our legislature will tackle vital issues that impact our community. Our goal is to cut through politics and talk about bipartisan issues that affect all Vermonters and hear from all sides. We've invited a panel of sitting VT Reps. and Senators from Lamoille and Washington Counties.
Our 3 key topics for discussion:
1) upcoming environmental legislation's affect on VT communities
2) issues surrounding childcare shortage and paid family leave
3) the impact of a livable wage on our local economies.
We'll ask the panel, how we can be most effective in working with the State Legislature and other government officials.
Moderated by Hannah Marshall of the Stowe Reporter, our current list of panel includes both Democrats and Republicans: Rep. Dave Yacavone (Dem, Lamoille), Rep. Dan Noyes (Dem, Lamoille), Rep. Heidi Scheuermann (Republican, Lamoille), Rep. Theresa Wood (Dem, Washington), Senator Ann Cummings (Dem, Washington) and Rep Anne Donahue (Republican, Washington).
Although there are no sitting legislators representing the Progressive Party in Lamoille and Washington Counties, we hope to have their voice at the table.
We would like to attract a large group of Washington and Lamoille constituents to this event. This will be a great way to get ready for active citizenship in 2018. Please spread the word in your community. No RSVP is required.
