On November 16th at 7:00 pm the Stowe Middle & High School Music Department will perform its annual Fall Concert at the Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center. This free admission community event is made possible through the support of the Spruce Peak Arts Community & Education Fund. This fund makes hosting area groups (such as Stowe Middle and High School) experience in this world-class resource possible, as well as creating Spruce Peak Arts capacity to reach out to students in Lamoille and Washington Counties, offering school-time field trips, in-school residencies, and youth discounts throughout the year.
This concert will consist of the High School Concert Band, High School Chorus, High School Jazz Band under the baton of Jane Bouffard Lambert. The Middle Chorus and the Middle School Band Are under the direction of Andy Gagnon. The Middle School Band will perform student-selected works in three small ensembles. In this format students, learn to start and end themselves without a conductor by listening and watching one another. Students rehearse in their groups on their own with minimal help from the directors. They determine the leader of their ensemble and working together they prepare their pieces.
Musical Ensembles will perform selections covering a variety of genres such as the jazz tunes, In The Mood and Sweet Georgia Brown, Shostakovich’s Waltz No 2., our own Vermont State song These Green Hills, the Turtles famous Happy Together, the 1980’s hit Sweet Dreams are made of These, and much more.
