CHALLENGE for Brandon- Brandon has been known to have the largest July 4th parade in the past. We have not met this in many years. I am issuing Brandon a CHALLENGE to make put Brandon VT to live up to and deliver the largest Independence Day Parade.
The 2014 Brandon Independence day Theme is 'BRANDON ROCKS ON' for the July 4-5th celebration. The committee met December 4th and we are off to a good start and have identified the following needs to make Brandon Independence day events a success.
* Silent Auction support the Day of the event-- 10am to 5pm
* Vendor support July 4 Street Dance-- 5pm to 9pm, July 5th-- 9am to 3pm. July 5th,Park Village-- 4pm to 9pm.
* Parade sendoff support-- 11am to 2pm.
* Parade traffic support-- 11am to 1:30pm
* Silent Auction support, July 5th -- 9:30 to 5pm.
* Fireworks donation collectors support 5pm to 9pm
* Family activities support -- 10 am to 12:30 behind the Inn 5pm to 8pm at Park Village.
* Fireworks someone to train with Jeff Stewart to take over in Dec. 2013 for the 2015 event
* Treasurer someone to shadow Linda Stewart starting in March to take over July 2013
* Traffic support needed 10:30 to 1:30
* Signage support
* American Flag Display on street poles Team Leader and support for May 2013 and removal after Labor Day , Support to maintain the flags from May to Sept. should they become ripped or twisted.
* Four Judges for the parade, 12:45- 2:00
Last year a Division for Neighborhood floats was created and we had one float enter. We are hoping for each neighborhood to enter a float this year. A special Trophy is awarded to the best neighborhood float to be displayed in town.
The next scheduled meetings are at 7 PM and will be held on the 3rd Wednesdays of the month. The next meeting will be January 15, and the following on February 12 and after that March 19. Starting in April, the committee will meet twice a month. You do not have to be a resident of Brandon to be on the Brandon Independence Day Celebration committee. If you once were apart of the committee and would like to share your expertise after your break, we welcome you.
