The Burlington Choral Society will perform, as its fall concert, “Alexander's Feast” by Georg Friedrich Handel.
Richard Riley will lead the 80-voice chorus, soloists, and orchestra on Saturday, November 18, 7:30 p.m. at the College Street Congregational Church, 265 College St., in Burlington.
Alexander's Feast—a hit in London in 1736—traces the moods of Alexander the Great from triumphant to amorous to melancholy, in a musical banquet. His mistress, Thais, incites fiery vengeance against the Persians, but another woman rules the gorgeous final movements. Cecilia, patron saint of musicians, blesses the evening as "sacred to harmony and love."
The soloists will be Allison Devery, soprano; Gene Stenger, tenor; and George Cordes, bass.
Tickets are available at the Flynn Box Office, flynntix.org and (802) 86 FLYNN. Admission is $25 for adults and $20 for students and seniors.
