Secretary of State Jim Condos Announces Three Additional Transparency Tour Stops
Montpelier, VT—Secretary of State Jim Condos is pleased to announce three additional stops on his fourth biennial Transparency Tour. Every two years, since taking office in 2011, Secretary Condos has traveled the state to discuss transparency and open government, Vermont’s Public Records Act, and Open Meeting Law with municipal and state employees, elected officials of all stripes, local government board or commission members, and engaged citizens.

Transparency Tour events have already been held in Montpelier, Rutland, Brattleboro, Springfield, Winooski and Newport, where over 100 state and local elected officials, government employees, volunteer board and commission members and interested citizens have received a thorough overview of the requirements and responsibilities government officials have regarding open meetings and access to public records.
“We hear almost daily from individuals across the state with questions about government openness and transparency, especially at the local level” said Secretary Condos. “Most often we find that local public officials are well meaning with a desire to best serve their residents. The Transparency Tour is all about giving them the education and tools to be able to best comply with the law and carry out their positions in an open and transparent way. Vermonters have a right to know how decisions are being made in their government!”
All Transparency Tour events are free and the public is encouraged to attend.
