Continuing to protect the water quality of our Coburn Pond swimming hole and the Winooski Watershed means keeping glyphosate OUT of the constructed wetlands south of the pond. That means “Invasive species” must be manually removed.
Please join our community of “Friends of Coburn Pond” by helping to remove these plants from the constructed wetlands.
Learn to identify canary grass, phragmites (giant reed), purple loosestrife, and Japanese knotweed
Bring work gloves and shovels.
Wear work boots and clothing appropriate to wet ground and predicted weather. (sunny but cool)
We will begin at 8:30 AM, Thursday Nov. 9th—Join us for as long as you can, an hour or more.
Park behind Plainfield Hardware on Rt. 2. (Please leave their service areas clear for deliveries)
We’ll meet between 8:15 and 8:30 to organize working groups (but come whenever you are able!)
If we’re not still up at the yellow access gate, follow the path down and bear right until you find a group to work with. You’ll likely hear us! We’ll show you what to do.
