Every year for the past 8 years Shelburne Vineyard has hosted a Festival celebrating VT specialty food and beverage producers. The Festival is in support of the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf whose work all year helps insure that Vermonters don't go hungry. Scheduled from 11 AM to 5 PM, on Saturday, November 11 this 9th Annual Festival will celebrate the end of harvest and the beginning of the holiday season by bringing together producers of some of Vermont's most delectable artisan foods and wines to sample and sell their wares.
Instead of an admission or sampling fee, visitors need just bring a contribution of non-perishable food items for the Food Shelf’s collection or make a donation to the Food Shelf Raffle which each hour will choose a winner of a product donated by one of our vendors. Typically the final tally results in close to 3000 pounds of food or cash equivalent for the Food Shelf, especially important to their pantry as the holidays and winter season close in.
In addition to the Vineyard’s wines, this year the Festival will include Eden Specialty Ciders and Artesano Mead. There'll be artisan cheeses from Fairytale Farm and Woodcock Farms, Pierogies from Luiza, products from Pastabilities and Better Off Bread, desserts from Douglass Sweets and Let’s get Baked and to round off the meal, syrups from Run Amok. The Good Food Truck will be on hand too, serving on-the-go lunch treats to keep you going while you shop and sample, so come hungry! All proceeds of lunch sales will also benefit the Food Shelf. As a final treat, our new neighbors from Wild Hart Distillery will have a show&tell. They'll be celebrating their Grand Opening the same day at their new facility across Rt 7 with sampling there, check out what they're up to here and then head over to welcome them.
So, whether you’re just out to enjoy a Fall afternoon, to plan a holiday meal or to get a start on holiday gifting, feel good knowing your visit will help insure that the Food Shelf has ample supplies to meet the needs of our neighbors during the coming season. The event is supported every year by VT Tent Company who help make it possible to have a heated patio tent to accommodate the vendors and all the shoppers regardless of the weather.
