As part of a continued community outreach effort, Green Mountain Transit (GMT) is hosting a winter clothing event to benefit Franklin County Community Action. “Winter is a challenging time for many Vermonters in our community,” says General Manager, Mark A. Sousa. “When the opportunity arose to partner with Franklin County Community Action, we recognized the potential to make a huge impact for families in need.”
Franklin County Community Action provides a wide range of important services to individuals and families managing on low incomes. These services include housing help, assistance with heating and utility costs, tax preparation, medical insurance enrollment, transportation assistance, and a friendly market-like food pantry opened five days a week.
We are accepting new or gently used winter coats, boots, hats, glove, and scarves of all sizes! Many local families struggle with daily transportation needs. Along with the winter clothing drive, GMT is also donating Single Fare bus passes to help with this critical need.
Between November 1-15, winter clothing drop-boxes can be found at Kevin Smith Sports, Warner’s, and the GMT administrative office (375 Lake Road, Suite 5, St. Albans). Donations can be made directly to Franklin County Community Action (5 Lemnah Drive, St. Albans).
Join GMT and The Big Station 98.9 WOKO on November 8th as we broadcast LIVE between 3:30-5:30PM from Franklin County Community Action. See the unveiling of the new mural by Enosburg artist Natalie LaRocque welcoming shoppers to NorthWest Family Foods, the food pantry program of Franklin County Community Action.
