Maple Corner Community Center, 64 County Road, Calais, VT
Dessert Potluck

In advance of the upcoming Legislative Session, Indivisible Calais is hosting a panel discussion with presenters from three Vermont advocacy groups to offer a preview of what social, economic and environmental justice issues Vermonters can expect to see at the state level in 2018.

Vermont 2018: A Preview of Political Issues and Solutions, a dessert potluck, will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 7:30 pm at the Maple Corner Community Center.

Representatives from ACLU of Vermont, VPIRG and Rights and Democracy VT will address resistance issues at the state level, and will offer positive responses to these issues. The panel will consist of speakers from:

ACLU of VT. The American Civil Liberties Union of Vermont is dedicated to advancing the civil rights and civil liberties of all Vermonters. It works in the courts, the legislature, and in communities to preserve individual rights and liberties guaranteed by America’s Constitution and Bill of Rights. In Vermont and across the country, the ACLU fights for the principle that every individual’s rights must be protected equally under the law.

VPIRG. The Vermont Public Interest Research Group is the largest nonprofit consumer and environmental advocacy organization in Vermont. For over 40 years, VPIRG has brought the voice of average Vermont citizens to public policy debates concerning the environment, health care, consumer protection and democracy. Their campaigns mobilize support for policies that make Vermont an even better place to live.

RAD VT. Rights and Democracy Vermont works for policies that lead to happy, healthy, and just communities for all Vermonters. It supports a Vermont where every working person earns a livable wage and has dignified working conditions, everyone has access to quality healthcare, education, affordable housing and social supports paid for with a progressive and fair tax system, and for an economy that creates good jobs while taking bold action to protect the environment and address climate change.

This dessert potluck event is organized and hosted by Indivisible Calais, a group of concerned citizens committed to organizing and supporting local, state, and national actions to defend and preserve social justice, the environment, and America’s Constitutional rights and liberties.
