First Friday Film for November at the Springfield Unitarian Universalist Church.
Filmmaker Jen Senko explores the rise of the right wing media, and how it affected her once Democratic father who became an angry right-wing fanatic after his immersion in talk radio and Fox News. This award winning documentary discovers this to be a powerful phenomenon that has divided families across the nation.
November is traditionally time for Americans to vote. It seems worthwhile at this time of year to take a look at the forces that helped to drive the country to the right by creating a TV network for the GOP, (Roger Ailes under Richard Nixon), including the dismantling of the Fairness Doctrine (under Ronald Reagan) and the Telecommunications Reform Act (under Bill Clinton). 89 min
Free and open to all. Doors open at 6:45 pm, movie starts at 7 pm. We will have popcorn and beverages. Held at the church at 21 Fairground Rd, Springfield, VT.
