MCMC presents: Lo Cor de la Plana, an all-male a capella group from Marseille this Wednesday Novemebr 1st at 6:30pm at St. Stephen's Church! Lo Cor performs polyphonic songs in Occitan (a language of southern France). Lo Cor uses percussion (bendirs and tamburellos) as well as foot stomps and clapping to create a raucous musical texture that represents the grit and liveliness of the Mediterranean. With influences from Italy, Bulgaria, Algeria, Gregorian chants, and contemporary popular music, their repertoire is passionate, sacred, subversive, and an important voice in contemporary France.
