Jacqueline Woodson's Brown Girl Dreaming is the Vermont Reads selection this year--a beautiful memoir in verse. The fifth and sixth graders at Prosper Valley School have been reading the book and want to discuss it with others in the community. A fantastic lunch is planned for Friday, November 17th where we can all gather for good food and stimulating discussion. There's no cost and we guarantee you'll be impressed with what the kids are discovering about childhood memories, the civil rights movement, prejudice, and the importance of "home."!
If you haven't yet read Woodson's accessible, stimulating book, you can check out a copy at the Abbott Memorial Library or other local libraries. To reserve a place at the lunch discussion email Anne Bower by November 12th. We look forward to seeing you!
