Dear Neighbors,
This coming Monday, the City Council will convene its third of three meetings for the month of October.
We will begin our evening 6pm in Contois Auditorium with a worksession to discuss ongoing negotiations with UVM and Champlain College on the City’s Capital Infrastructure Plan. As these negotiations are ongoing, we expect this discussion will be in Executive Session.
Our Council meeting will begin after this worksession and a very brief Local Control Commission meeting at 7:15pm.
On our deliberative agenda is one item. We will be voting on the selection of a buyer for Burlington Telecom. The two finalists were asked to submit final Letters of Intent to the City Council for our consideration this past Wednesday at 5pm. These final letters are on the City’s website at www.burlingtonvt.gov There is a direct link to the final offers on this page.
This decision has received significant coverage in the local and social media so certainly you are aware that we will be voting between the two finalists, Keep BT Local and Ting. Sale background information is also available at this same link and includes legal documents, a summary of the offers and legal and financial opinions from independent counsel and consultants.
As with all Council meetings, you are welcome, as always, to come and speak to the Council on any subject you wish during our Public Forum which begins at 7:30pm.
