Surviving the Future - Book Review & Symposium

Past event
Nov 15, 2017, 6:30 to 8 PM

In a time of disintegrating certainties, many of us have big questions: "How should we live?", "What work should we do?" David Fleming's entertaining vision of a post-growth economy built on the play, humor, rootedness and reciprocal obligations of a rich culture has long inspired optimism and action. Sterling College and the School of the New American Farmstead will be diving into Fleming's work this winter with a book discussion and symposium and we would like for you to join us!

Wednesday, Nov 15 - "Surviving the Future" Book Discussion is happening from 6:30-8:00pm in the Reading Room at the Brown Library. You can request a free copy of the book so that you may take part in this conversation by contacting NewAmericanFarmstead@sterlingcollege.edu

Friday, Dec 1 - Join us for a discussion of the late David Fleming's grounded, compelling vision of a joyous post-growth future on Friday December 1st 7:15pm at Sterling College. Guest speakers include Margo Baldwin, Chuck Collins, David Bollier, Peter Buffett and Sterling's Matthew Derr. The first one hundred attendees will receive a free copy of David Fleming's book "Surviving the Future: Culture, Carnival and Capital in the Aftermath of the Market Economy" You can RSVP to this free event and learn more about it here: https://sterlingcollege.edu/stf/
