The Borderlands

Every year the Treewild nonprofit in Shelburne hosts one of the more magical Halloween events of the area: a wild-woods walk, with theater, songs and poetry, stories, music and dance along the way. The Borderlands marks the edge where our world meets the world of magic, where fairies, elves and dwarves dwell. The next performance is on Saturday, the 28th of October, with groups going every 15 minutes from 1:00 until 5:00 pm.

This year, the story is based on Snow White, who ran from her beauty-obsessed step-mother across the Border into the Otherworld, to live with magical dwarves. But does she choose to go back and live in a palace when she meets her prince? Think again.

This performance is extraordinary for all ages. Many of the performers are children from the Way of the Bard, and Enchantment Camps programs, although there are featured adults as well. Along the way, there will be magical activities for the audience to participate in, and everyone gets a fairy crown to keep them safe across the Border.

The route is rugged and appropriately wild! Good shoes, clothing for the weather, and tick spray are important. The audience goes out in small groups, and tickets are for a specific time slot. The Borderlands is a major fundraiser for the Way of the Bard, a group that is enacting social change through their performance art.

All ticketing is done online at Treewild.org.
