The Rutland-area NAACP is hosting a benefit concert and gathering on Wednesday, October 25th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m at Grace Congregational Church in Rutland. In late August, 8 year-old Quincy Merlin from Claremont, NH was allegedly hanged and then verbally assaulted by a group a adolescent boys. Quincy did live; however, the family's medical expenses coupled with their counseling costs have created a financial burden for the Merlins. Additionally, they are considering moving away from a community where they no longer feel safe. In an effort to support the Merlins, the Rutland-area NAACP is welcoming the community to Grace Church on Wednesday evening. Rick Redington and The Luv will perform from 7:00 to 8:00, and Promised Land, featuring a few local musicians, will play from 6:00 to 7:00. Food and drink will be provided. A $5 per individual donation is suggested. Hope to see some of you at the event.
