Hello Neighbors,
I invite you to come hear a big chorus singing hit music from 1736.
The Burlington Choral Society will present "Alexander's Feast," G.F. Handel's rarely performed musical banquet for Alexander the Great, blessed by St. Cecilia.
Richard Riley, artistic director, will lead the 80-voice chorus, soloists and orchestra on Saturday, Nov. 18, 7:30 p.m. at the College Street Congregational Church in Burlington, VT.
Alexander's Feast traces the Greek emperor's moods from triumphant to amorous to melancholy, as his mistress Thais and other admirers gather for an evening's entertainment. The work ends with soaring music celebrating Saint Cecilia, patron of musicians.
Soloists will be Allison Devery, soprano; Gene Stenger, tenor; and George Cordes, bass.
Tickets are at the Flynn Box Office, flynntix.org and (802) 86-FLYNN. Prices are $25 for adults and $20 for students and seniors.
Hope to see you in the audience!
