The Waterbury Library is pleased to host Geof Hewett, poet and Vermont Humanities Council scholar to lead our book discussion of Brown Girl Dreaming, the Vermont Humanities 2017 pick for Vermont Reads. We will meet in the SAL room at 7 O'Clock, Wednesday evening, the 18th. Jacqueline Woodson penned this lovely memoir of her life in both the south and the north in the Civil Rights era of the 60's and 70's. The pages come alive with both the beauty and simplicity of a rural south and the underlying current of segregation that was being challenged. Woodson had ties to both the north and south and struggled to find her place and sense in a conflicting, changing world. If you've read the book, or even if you haven't, come to share or simply to listen to a variety of vignettes from this delightful book.
