Advance Directive Workshop: Providing Peace of Mind on End-of-Life Medical Decisions
A workshop sponsored by the Community Seniors of Bolton, Huntington, and Richmond
End-of-life conversations and medical decisions are not easy, but they are important to health care planning for adults of any age. It is impossible to predict one’s exact medical situation or treatments available at that time. Discussions with those closest to you about your wishes and values while you are healthy enough to define them clearly can provide peace of mind for family members, and let you maintain as much control over your medical treatment as possible.
On November 14, Dr. Hannah Rabin of Richmond Family Medicine will conduct an Advance Directive workshop, to explain more about its importance, the steps required, how to approach the subject with your loved ones, and how your Advance Directive can be registered and accessible to the health care providers and family members you designate. Attendance is free.
Vermont is one of nine states with an Advance Directive Registry. The forms are readily available, and can be recorded, accessed and changed in the future if desired, at no cost.
Each workshop is limited to 20 attendees, and you can invite your health care agent to accompany you. We sincerely appreciate Dr. Rabin’s time and guidance, and her offer to lead more sessions for us based on the response.
Please let me know as soon as possible this week if you’d like to attend this or a future session.
