I've been trying to get Richard to show his northern lights drawings for several months. Finally he agreed, but doesn't want to sell or even show the originals. So we agreed to make one copy of each of 20 I picked out from the selection he brought in, which in turn were just a few of the hundreds he has. He's completely self-taught and been drawing this and other subjects for several decades for his own enjoyment. Richard saw his first aurora borealis as a teenager in Vermont in 1961 and was so captivated that he talked his parents into letting him spend two years living up in a village in the Canadian Yukon, where he saw lots of northern lights and about which he has many stories.
