Vermont Commons and United Way of Chittenden County are screening The Opiate Effect, a documentary about the ravages of heroin addiction in Vermont and our greater culture.

UVM student Will Gates died of a heroin overdose in 2009. His father, Skip Gates, needed a way to deal with this tragedy. As a Math Teacher, he took early retirement to tour schools and educate as many as possible of the harm, not only in the drug, but how we are dealing with the problem in society.
