Conversation On The Freedom of Assembly

Head over to Kellogg-Hubbard Library (Hayes Room) on Thursday, October 12 for a discussion on the Freedom of Assembly from 7-8:30 p.m. Organized by the League of Women Voters and Kellogg-Hubbard Library, moderator David Moats, editorial writer and Pulitzer prize-winner at the Rutland Herald will query a panel on their thoughts about the Right to Assembly, its significance, interpretation, and why protection of this form of expression is important.

Montpelier Chief of Police Anthony Facos, James Haslam, Executive Director of Rights & Democracy and Chloe White, ACLU Policy Director will share their insights and perspectives.

According to the 2017 Annenberg Constitution Day Civics Survey, only 10 percent of respondents named Freedom of Assembly as a right guaranteed by the First Amendment. 37 percent could not name any First Amendment rights!
