Memory Cafe meets at Montpelier Senior Activity Center at 58 Barre Street, Montpelier on the second Saturday of each month.
At Montpelier Memory Cafe this Saturday, October 14th:
Guest Speakers: Local Filmmaker George Woodard of Hanging Mudflap Productions
Actor, musician, farmer and director, George Woodard is well-known in theater circles in Vermont, where he was instrumental in the creation of the Groundhog Opry, which continues to this day.
George and producer Joan Brace O'Neal are currently working on a film set in WWII France. Called The Farm Boy, it's a story loosely based on his father's experience as a G.I. during the war, and is sure to encourage questions and personal reminiscences from everyone in attendance. An article about the latest project, "The Farm Boy Films 'The Farm Boy' ", appeared in The Waterbury Record/Stowe Reporter this April. This is George's second feature film The first being the award winning film "The Summer of Walter Hacks", a 1950 coming-of-age story.
The Cafe is a social gathering where people in early to mid-stage memory loss disorders, and their care partners, can come together to connect and support one another in a relaxed, non-judgmental atmosphere. Participants enjoy social time and food, as well as activities and exercise. These may include art, music, dance and movement. (Please note that the Memory Cafe is not a drop-off or adult day care center. Each participant is expected to be accompanied by a care partner.)
