Vermiculture & Beyond: Composting During The Winter with Master Composter Phil Hammond
Hartland Library Community Gardens, 153 US-5, Hartland, VT
Sponsored by the Windsor Chapter UVM Extension Master Gardeners
(This will also include a session to repair the compost bins at the community garden; bring a bag lunch)
Nature’s ultimate recycling system, composting creates a nutrient-rich amendment for your garden or indoor plants in all seasons. Learn the whys and the hows of cold, hot, and vermicomposting (which uses a specific type of Redworm). Discover ways to compost in small homes or apartments, how to start and maintain different types of composting bins, as well as the nutritional benefits of worm castings for your plants. Worm bins are also great for introducing children to composting and caring for the earth. Look ahead to 2020 when all Vermonters will be responsible for managing their own food waste.
