Adam Boyce will be portraying Charles Ross Taggart in a Vermont Humanities Council (VHC) presentation at the Monkton Fire Station, 3747 State’s Prison Hollow Road, on Monday, October 16th at 7:00 p.m. The presentation is being hosted by the Monkton Museum and Historical Society (MM&HS).

Charles Ross Taggart grew up in Topsham, Vermont and lived in Newbury, Vermont for many years. In 1895, he became a musical humorist and performed all over North America for more than 40 years. Taggart made at least 40 recordings with Victor, Edison, and Columbia Companies and appeared in a 1923 Photo-Film “talkie.” Living-history presenter Adam Boyce portrays Mr. Taggart near the end of his career, circa 1936, sharing recollections on his life, with some live fiddling interspersed with humorous sketches. Adam Boyce is a noted fiddler in his own right and a lifelong student of history.

The presentation is being sponsored by the VHC under a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
