Kellogg-Hubbard Library , 135 Main Street, Montpelier
Join the League of Women Voters (LWV) and Kellogg-Hubbard Library (KHL) for a discussion on the First Amendment Freedom of Assembly.
The panel, moderated by David Moats, author and Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial writer at the Rutland Herald, is composed of Police Chief Tony Facos (Montpelier), James Haslam, founder of Rights & Democracy, and Chloe White, ACLU of Vermont Policy Director. They will discuss the individual right of people to come together and collectively express, promote, pursue, and defend their ideas. There has been a steady assault on the practice of assembly by states narrowing interpretation of protecting this form of expression as Americans vigorously exercise their right to free assembly,.
This is the second in a series of discussions on the First Amendment by LWV and KHL . Future discussions will address the freedoms of speech, religion, and petitioning the government.
