HOW TO MAKE AN APPLE PIE AND SEE THE WORLD!
Russell Library is very excited to host a StoryWalk Saturday, October 7, 9:00 - 12:00 at the Monkton Community Center building site adjacent to the Monkton Friends Church on Monkton Ridge. Enjoy the picture book "How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World", enjoy a crunchy, fresh apple and walk this beautiful site on the ridge. Please join us!
StoryWalk® is an innovative and delightful way for children — and adults! — to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time. Laminated pages from a children's book are attached to wooden stakes, which are installed along an outdoor path. As you stroll down the trail, you're directed to the next page in the story.
StoryWalks® have been installed in 50 states and 12 countries including, Germany, Canada, England, Bermuda, Russia, Malaysia, Pakistan and South Korea! They are always received with appreciation.
StoryWalk® was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and has developed with the help of Rachel Senechal, Kellogg-Hubbard Library.
In addition to the walk, participants may sign up for a library card right there at the new building site. And a special "pop-up apple craft project" will be available at the library, just down the street at the Russell Library. Families may walk on Saturday from 9-12, but the craft project will be available to anyone on the three days that we're open during our regular hours on Thursday, October 5 (3-7 pm), Friday, October 6 and Saturday October 7, ( 9-1 pm). All are welcome to join the fun. Please call with questions (453-4471) or visit our website.
