Clara Kazarov, our beloved hide tanning instructor, is returning this December to teach us more of her amazing traditional skills! On Saturday you will cut out and sew a warm & rugged Filson-style wool vest, using an army blanket as the material. You can either bring your own blanket to cut up or use one of Clara's blankets (dark grey color) for an extra materials fee of $20. Some basic sewing experience is an advantage but you can compensate for a lack of experience with some extreme crafting fervor! Limited to 8 students.
On Sunday we will make comfortable and beautiful custom-fitted moccasins. If you are making them for someone else you must bring a tracing of their footprint on paper. Clara will bring all the materials we need, so the materials fee is $30. Limited to 8 students.
Whether you give these gifts to a dear loved one or to your beautiful self, they'll provide years of useful service and remind the recipient daily that they were made with loving intentions. Handmade gifts bring the deeper meaning of this gift-giving season back to life, and making gifts together with a group of people reminds us what it is to be humans in community. You are welcome to take just one of these days (for $50 per day, not including materials fees) or to attend the whole weekend at a discounted rate of $85 for both days (not including materials fees). A delicious vegetarian soup & bread lunch is included in the class fee both days. Join us for this weekend retreat of relaxed and cozy gift-making in the midst of a busy season. This workshop is open to all genders and ages (minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian). The location is on the border of Worcester and Calais, please register on our website to receive full details: www.mountainsongexpeditions.com
