Preview of Oct. 2 Special City Council Meeting

Past event
Oct 2, 2017, 7 to 10 PM

Dear Neighbors,

This coming Monday, the City Council will be holding a special Council meeting. In addition to the two other meetings on our calendar for the month of October, this meeting was called to narrow the list of bidders for Burlington Telecom to two finalists. Given that we now have three remaining offers, we are going to use our special meeting for two agenda items.

The first item will be an expected executive session to receive an update on negotiations on the Burlington Town Center Development. This will take place in Contois Auditorium in City Hall from 6 to 6:45pm.

At 7pm, we will have a presentation from Terry Dorman, our consultant for Burlington Telecom with whom we have been working on the sale of BT. He will give us a presentation on the sale process. The Council will be asking questions of Terry and others. We will discussing the sale and also the feedback we have received from the community via BTfeedback@burlingtonvt.gov

We will interrupt our discussion at 7:30 to begin our public forum. As with all Council meetings, please keep in mind that you are always welcome to come and speak to the Council on any subject you wish during our Public Forum.

The Council will be voting to narrow the field of bidders from three to two on October 16. The two finalists will begin legal due diligence at that time.

In the next two weeks, I will be making myself available in Ward 6 to meet with neighbors. I am trying to find a time early in the morning as well as at the end of the day so all schedules can be accommodated. Please stay tuned for dates and a location.

All Council meetings are televised live on BT Channel 317 and streamed live to your computer or phone.

As always, I welcome your questions and concerns. Please be in touch over the weekend and on Monday.

My best,
Karen
