Even if you missed the first Brown Girl Dreaming event, it is not too late to engage! On Saturday, September 30, we will be meeting at the Second Congregational Church, 16 Church Street in Jeffersonville, 3-5pm, to watch a movie about Ruby Bridges.
About Brown Girl Dreaming:
A memoir of the author's childhood written in verse, Brown Girl Dreaming tells the story of a young person finding her voice while examining the strength of family bonds. The book won the National Book Award for Young People's Literature in 2014. It also received the Coretta Scott King Award, a Newbery Honor Award, the NAACP Image Award. The New York Times called Brown Girl Dreaming "a book full of poems that cry out to be learned by heart. These are poems that will, for years to come, be stored in our bloodstream."
