On September 12, 2017, Governor Phil Scott signed a proclamation, naming September 25-30, 2017, “Adult Education and Literacy Week in Vermont.”
Central Vermont Adult Basic Education (CVABE), the Adult Education and Literacy provider serving Washington, Orange and Lamoille Counties, is extremely proud to be recognized for the work we do, and to be recognized by Governor Scott. “We are just thrilled,” says Carol Shults-Perkins, Executive Director. “But this isn’t about us,” she continues. ”It’s all about the dedication, hard work and accomplishments of our adult learners, and that’s who we are celebrating.”
Our students come to us for 21st century adult education. “Some of those men and women are just learning to read, and others are learning reading, writing and math skills that they need for college or career training programs,” says Brian Kravitz, CVABE’s Outreach Coordinator. For Adult Education and Literacy Week, CVABE honors each of our adult learners.
“If you or anyone you know is wondering if adult education is right for you,” Kravitz adds, “just call the Learning Center closest to you. It’s that easy, and it’s free!”

From the entire Central Vermont Adult Basic Education community, we offer our most heartfelt congratulations and appreciation to each and every adult learner in Vermont, and especially those whom we directly serve.
We look forward to meeting more adult learners in our community, and helping you to dream, believe, learn and achieve.
