Candle Light Vigil

Past event
Dec 14, 2013, 4:30 to 5:30 PM

On Saturday, December 14th, Vermonters throughout the state will gather in towns, cities, and villages to remember and mourn the loss of those killed at the elementary school called Sandy Hook, in Newtown, Connecticut as a result of gun violence.

The massacre occurred a year ago, shocking us all with the horror and specter of a small town suddenly turned upside down as news raced across television screens and still photos of innocent young children were seen. Alongside teachers who struggled valiantly to protect them.

We in Stowe have our own dear innocents to love and protect and celebrate, even as we heal and reach out in prayer and solidarity to support those still grieving the loss of innocence and trust shattered.

We, who support Ann Braden and the Gun Sense of Vermont movement she initiated, are inviting those who will and can to gather at the front steps of our village church at 4:30 pm on Saturday, December 14th until 5:30 pm.

We ask that you bring a candle, maybe several to share, and spend time with us in prayer and celebration and an honoring of those we remember. Thank you.
