Past event
Sep 25, 2017, 7 to 8:30 PM

Dear Neighbors,

This coming Monday, the City Council will convene its second of two meetings for the month of September.

This past week, the City Council and the Administration announced the three finalists who have made bids to purchase Burlington Telecom. You can access the three letters of intent at the Burlington Telecom website, www.burlingtontelecom.com There is a red banner on the home page. Click on to that and you will be directed to the information on the three offers. The City Council will be voting on October 2 to narrow the field to two finalists and will be selecting the successful bidder on October 16. I welcome your input and feedback on this important decision. You may reach out to me directly via my email or by phone. You may also reach out to the Council and Mayor via BTfeedback@burlingtonvt.gov. Any Councilor and the Mayor’s office can access these emails.

The Council will begin its evening at 5:30 with a work session on Burlington Telecom. We will get a legal update on the sale which may be in Executive Session but it is only to do with legal and negotiating issues and not the bids themselves.

Following a brief Local Control Commission agenda, the Council will begin its deliberative agenda shortly after 7pm in Contois Auditorium in City Hall.

Our agenda is brief. We have two entertainment permits to vote on followed by a public hearing on the consolidated annual performance and evaluation report submitted by CEDO. This report describes what was accomplished with expenditures of $1,202,173 during the past fiscal year of federal funds received from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnership Act and Lead Hazard Reduction ($1.2 million)/Healthy Homes programs ($121,841) as well as Burlington Housing Trust Fund ($458,346) monies.

Following committee reports and comments from Councilors and the Mayor on general city affairs, we have two executive sessions, one of the Moran Plant and the other on the Burlington Town Center development agreement.

As with all Council meetings, please keep in mind that you are always welcome to come and speak to the Council on any subject you wish during our Public Forum which begins at 7:30pm. Clickable agenda items can be found on the City's website: https://www.boarddocs.com/vt/burlingtonvt/Board.nsf/Public All Council meetings are televised live on BT Channel 317 and streamed live to your computer or phone.

As always, I welcome your questions and concerns. Please be in touch over the weekend and on Monday.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

My best,
Karen
