Meditation Circle
Date/time: Sunday evenings, the 3rd Sunday of each month, 6:00-7:30pm. September 17th, October 15th, November 19th, and December 17th (weather dependent)
Location: Stone Valley Arts at Fox Hill, 145 E. Main St., Poultney, across from Poultney High School.
Description: Guided by Howard Banow, the Circle is meant for both beginners and more experienced meditators ... a time and place to support, share and learn from each other.
For newcomers there will be time-tested, suggested meditation techniques and some hints which may be helpful in maintaining an ongoing practice. Howard’s singing and guitar provide an atmosphere conducive to tranquility and joyful celebration. A brief talk will be followed by sitting together in silence. Afterward, any questions or sharing will be welcomed.
Howard had a long and deep training in meditation and the ancient tradition of Jainism from India. A singer-songwriter and poet, he lived as a monk for five years at which time he was the administrative and music director of a center in NYC. He thinks of himself as a “freelance mystic” and incorporates inspiration from many poets and mystical traditions.
Chairs for sitting are available. For those who wish to use the floor, please bring cushions, blankets, mats, etc.
Cost: There is no fee, but a free will donation to SVA is welcome ($5)
