Relocalizing Vermont Thursday: Are You Prepared?

Past event
Sep 14, 2017, 9 to 10:30 AM

Coming up Thursday on Goddard College Community Radio - September is National Preparedness Month. We’ve seen what can happen when people aren’t ready for a hurricane. We could still get hit by a hurricane or tropical storm, and winter is coming—with the potential for blizzards and ice storms. We’ll focus on how to prepare now and what to do in the days or hours before a storm.

Just by knowing your neighbors through Front Porch Forum, you're a step ahead of the game. Tune in for more ideas. Hint: there’s no need to rush out and buy bottled water.

9:00 - 10:00 am
Mark Bosma at Vermont Emergency Management will describe how to orient yourself to your community and its resources, like shelters.

Kevin Geiger at Two Rivers-Ottauqueechee Regional Commission carries a five-gallon bucket stuffed with household emergency essentials to give presentations. He’ll reveal what’s in the bucket—and what you can have in your head that makes the bucket unnecessary.
