The September 12 meeting has been moved to September 14, 2017 meeting of the St Albans Parkinson’s Support Group will be held at Homestead, a Pillsbury senior Community located at 3 Harbor View Drive, St Albans. The meeting will be held in the conference room, next to the library on the first floor. Meeting time is set from 10 am to 11:30 am. There is no charge for this meeting. There is wheel chair accessibility.
Scheduled topic: Karen Leary, a speech therapist has a group of patients who have had strokes and have a very difficult time talking. HOWEVER they can SING. The part of the brain that has to do with music is not affected by the stroke. She will tell us all about what they do and how they can do it.
The group is open to those with the disease, their caregivers including family and loved ones as well as those wanting to learn about this disease. The monthly meetings can provide an open forum to share experiences with others who are coping with the illness, gain education and support as well as provide recommendations for dealing with the day-to-day care. Participants can learn from each other, meet new people, have discussions, and listen to presentations.
