Please join members of the Essex Community Historical Society for this month's "Tales and Treasures" event.

Wed. Sept. 13th, 7:00 pm at Memorial Hall (Towers Road & Route 15).

Local artist, writer, and educator Judy Dow presents...
The Settlement Around Indian Brook Reservoir: Cellar Holes.

Refreshments will be served.

Judy will share the ethnobotany, geology and history of this important area:

22 different biomes along Indian Brook have provided a variety of resources to settlers over time. Initially, this area was home to many different Wabanaki groups. Then, farmers settled here in the 1800s. Remains of homesteads, including plant life, reveal who has lived here and how the land and nearby waters provided for them.
