Hogback Wildlife/Ski Work Day

Past event
Sep 10, 2017, 9 AM to 12 PM

This fall we kick off Phase 3 of our 10-year plan to re-open the five major ski slopes at the former Hogback Ski Area, one every two years. As the slopes regrow, they will provide dense cover and valuable foods for a variety of birds, mammals and other wildlife. For the first year or two, the slope will be open and the skiing will be great. When the shrubbery gets dense, the skiers can move on to the next slope, and the wildlife will move in.Help us make this happen! If you can wield loppers or haul brush, we can use your help.Chain sawyers are particularly welcome, but note that you MUST wear full safety gear (chaps plus head, face and hearing protection) to work on an HMCA project. If you don't
have your own gear, get in touch with us at hmca@hogbackvt.org.We have several sets available to loan out.

Meet at 9:00 on Sunday, Sept 10 in the parking lot near the white distillery building on Route 9 in Marlboro near the 100-mile view. From there, it’s an easy 3-minute hike to the work site.Bring your own favorite tool or borrow one of ours. We’ll call it a day by noon. Questions? Email hmca@hogbackvt.org or check the website:hogbackvt.org.
